Cheese without Borders - Käsenacht 2019

For Käsenacht this year the 2018 Irish Chef of the Year Jess Murphy is coming over to show us the raw milk rockstars of Irish cheese.

New Zealand born Jess is the chef and owner of Galway’s Kai Restaurant. Jess and her husband David Murphy opened Kai in 2011 with a simple formula - high-quality produce, preferably organic or wild, sourced locally and cooked intelligently. Jess is renowned for her connection to independent farmers making excellent produce.

From mountain to bog to sea, on Friday 8th Jess will present to us a variety of cheeses from across the whole of Ireland. Amongst others, there’ll be cheese from County Cavan’s Corleggy and the raw blue Young Buck coming from just across the border in Northern Ireland, as well as Kylemore Cheese from Galway.

There will be around 4 or 5 dishes and there’s talk of frozen blue cheese with honey icecream for dessert…

Silke Cropp from Corleggy and Mike Thomson from Mike's Fancy Cheese (maker of the Young Buck) will also be there on the night to answer any questions.

The event takes place in our Michelberger Bar and we’ll have some additional wines by the glass on to pair with each of Jess’s dishes. Feel free to drop in anytime from 6pm to 9pm, no bookings required.
